Pakistan Marine Academy Admissions 2026–27 (Deck Cadets & Engineering Cadets)

The Pakistan Marine Academy (PMA) in Karachi is accepting applications for its two-year cadet programs for Session 2026–27. A total of 64 seats are available, divided between:

  • Deck Cadet Course (Nautical Science)
  • Engineering Cadet Course (Marine Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, IMU-affiliated)

Applicants must be unmarried male Pakistani citizens, aged 20–21 years by 31 December 2025, with at least 55% marks in F.Sc (Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical) or I.Com (General Science). The deadline to submit application forms and a PKR 4,000 bank draft is 25 July 2025. Written and Physical Endurance Tests (PET) will be held on 10 August 2025. 2. Eligibility Criteria

  1. Citizenship: Male citizens of Pakistan (including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan).
  2. Age (as of 31 Dec 2025): 20 to 21 years (no relaxation).
  3. Education:
    • F.Sc (Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical) or I.Com (General Science) with ≥55% aggregate.
    • F.Sc candidates: ≥60% in Part I (First Year).
    • Foreign intermediate equivalents must have an IBCC equivalence certificate.
  4. Physical & Medical Standards:
    • Height: ≥ 5′4″ (162.5 cm)
    • BMI: 18.5–25
    • Vision: 6/6 each eye (with or without soft contact lenses; no color blindness)
    • Free from chronic illnesses or disabilities (IMO-approved medical certificate required, within 6 months).
  5. Character: No criminal record; Character/Police Clearance Certificate (issued within 6 months).

3. Training Structure & Curriculum

Deck Cadet Course (Nautical Science)

  • Duration: 2 years (academic + sea training).
  • Academics: Navigation principles, seamanship, chart work, meteorology, oceanography, cargo handling, marine law, and ship construction.
  • Practical Training:
    • Bridge Simulator: Radar, ARPA, ECDIS, GMDSS practice.
    • Seamanship Labs: Rope work, knots, line handling, lifeboat drills, firefighting.
  • Sea Service: At least two months aboard PMA’s training ship “Nazimuddin” for watchkeeping, steering, anchoring, and onboard duties.

Engineering Cadet Course (Marine Engineering, IMU-Affiliated)

  • Duration: 2 years (academic + sea training).
  • Academics: Thermodynamics, marine diesel engines, auxiliary machinery, shipboard electrical systems, piping, and engine resource management.
  • Practical Labs:
    • Engine Room Simulator: Watchkeeping, troubleshooting, emergency drills.
    • Workshops: Lathe operation, welding, machining.
  • Sea Service: Minimum sea time on merchant or government vessels under licensed engineers—hands-on engine-room tasks, maintenance, and safety drills.

Degree Awarded:

  • BS (Marine Science) in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering, conferred by the University of Karachi and IMO-accredited.

4. Application Process

Step 1: Download & Complete Application Form

  1. Visit www.marineacademy.edu.pk“Admissions 2026-27”“Download Application Form”.
  2. Print on A4 size; fill all fields in black ink.
  3. Attach two recent passport-size photographs (white background).

Step 2: Gather Supporting Documents

  • Matriculation Certificate & DMC (attested copy).
  • Intermediate Certificate & DMC (attested copy).
  • IBCC Equivalence Certificate (for foreign qualifications).
  • Domicile Certificate (attested).
  • Character/Police Clearance Certificate (attested, no older than 6 months).
  • IMO-Approved Medical Fitness Certificate (from Armed Forces Hospital or PMA Medical Centre).
  • CNIC/B-Form (attested copy).
  • Deposit Slip of PKR 4,000 (non-refundable) as a bank draft in favor of “Pakistan Marine Academy, Karachi” (NBP, PMA Branch, Account #0239).
  • 4 passport-size photographs (white background).
  • NOC (if employed in government or serving military).

Step 4: Written Examination

  • Date: 10 August 2025 (Sunday)
  • Centers: Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mirpur (AJK), and Gilgit
  • Format:
    • Section A (English): Grammar, comprehension, vocabulary (30 marks)
    • Section B (Mathematics): Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics (30 marks)
    • Section C (Physics/General Science): Basic concepts (20 marks)
    • Section D (General Knowledge/Pakistan Affairs): Current affairs and national topics (20 marks)
  • Passing Mark: 50% overall.

Step 5: Physical Endurance Test (PET)

  • Eligible Candidates: Those scoring ≥50% in written test.
  • Location: PMA Karachi

Step 6: Interview & Final Medical

  • Interview:
    • Held at PMA Karachi.
    • Personal interview before the selection board; document verification.
  • Medical Examination:
    • Conducted at PMA Health Centre or designated Armed Forces Hospital.
    • Includes chest X-ray, ECG, blood tests, vision, hearing, orthopedic, and general medical exam.
  • Final Merit List:
    • Combined scores: Written Test (50%) + PET (20%) + Interview (15%) + Academic Record (15%).
    • Published by October 2025.
  • Commissioning Orders: Selected cadets report to PMA for training starting November 2025 (exact date on offer letter).

5. Fee Structure & Scholarships

  • Application Fee: Non-refundable PKR 4,000 (bank draft).
  • Tuition & Boarding:
    • Self-Finance Cadets:
      • Tuition: PKR 80,000 per semester
      • Hostel & Mess: PKR 25,000 per semester
      • Uniform & Kit: One-time PKR 15,000
      • Medical Insurance: PKR 5,000 per year
    • Scholarship Cadets (33% of Seats):
      • Tuition, library, and boarding fees waived; only uniform, kit, and medical insurance charges apply.
  • Scholarship Allocation (≈21 seats):
    • Balochistan: 15 | Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 6 | Punjab: 6 | Sindh: 6
    • Merit-based; unused quotas reallocated to general merit.

6. Ineligibility & Disqualification

Candidates will be disqualified if they:

  1. Submit false or forged documents.
  2. Fail to produce original academic or domicile certificates.
  3. Are expelled or rusticated from any educational institution.
  4. Have a criminal record or pending criminal case.
  5. Test positive for narcotics or fail the Hepatitis B/C screening.
  6. Do not meet the medical or physical standards at PMA.
  7. Cannot complete PET benchmarks (e.g., run slower than 8 minutes).
  8. Fail to report within the reporting date after selection.
