WAPDA Graduate Internship 2025 – Engineering, IT, Finance & Communications


The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) invites recent graduates in Electrical/Electronic & Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Computer Science & Information Technology, Finance & Accounting, Human Resource Management, and Mass Communications to become a part of its national internship programme. This paid internship of two months provides 50 seats in Pakistan—Lahore HQ and regional offices in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtun, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Ex-FATA. Interns will assist senior WAPDA personnel on actual projects concerning dams, hydropower, water supply, and community outreach.

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (obtained in the past three years), not be above 26 years of age, and have a minimum CGPA of 2.8. Successful candidates are paid a monthly stipend of PKR 20,000 and a certificate upon graduation.

About WAPDA

WAPDA leads Pakistan’s water resource and power generation initiatives. The authority has constructed dams, canals, and powerhouses since its establishment, which aid agriculture, flood mitigation, and the supply of electricity to the entire country. Interns will receive exposure at flagship locations including Tarbela Dam, Mangla Power Complex, and under-construction Diamer-Basha and Mohmand dams.

You will do at WAPDA:

  • Assist data collection during field survey and technical inspections
  • Prepare parts of engineering reports and safety reviews
  • Support hydrological modelling and computer software
  • Attend project meetings concerning planning, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination
  • Help organize community awareness events on water conservation and electrification

Learning & Development Opportunities

  1. Hands-On Field Work
    Accompany engineers on site visits to dams, powerhouses, and canal systems.
  2. Technical Workshops
    Attend sessions on CAD design, SCADA systems, GIS mapping, and structural analysis.
  3. Mentorship Pairing
    Each intern partners with a senior staff member for weekly guidance and feedback.
  4. Interdepartmental Exposure
    Rotate through finance, HR, and communications units to understand how each supports large-scale infrastructure.
  5. Soft Skills Sessions
    Participate in briefings on professional ethics, report writing, and presentation techniques.
