General Manager – Infrastructure & Planning (TransKarachi – Karachi Red Line BRT Project)

Transkarachi, the implementation of the Transit project (BRT) of Karachi Red Line, is currently recruiting for the position of CEO – Infrastructure & Planning, higher role in Karachi, Sindh. This is a contract position required in the leadership of providing infrastructure projects, especially in urban transport systems. The role is to monitor all construction activities along the BRT corridor, to ensure strict compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards, and work closely with entrepreneurs and consultants.

Candidates must have a master’s degree in civil engineering, transport techniques, project management or construction management and at least 15 years of experience in civil infrastructure, including contact with senior management. The previous participation in transport projects at the international level and the familiarity of FIDIC -based contracts is very expected. Position Overview

About TransKarachi

Transkarachi is the official implementation organization of the BRT Karachi red line project. Established by companies as a company in the public sector, its role includes planning, implementing and managing the activities of the BRT system of the city’s red current. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank and other development partners.

Red BRT lines will provide a specialized corridor for effective, environmentally friendly and accessible urban transport. Key Responsibilities

🧱 Project Execution and Oversight

• Lead infrastructure planning and implementation across all Red Line BRT corridors.
• Supervise day-to-day construction work and monitor adherence to project schedules and quality benchmarks.

⚙️ Quality and Safety Management

• Ensure occupational health and safety standards are met across all active construction zones.
• Embed global best practices in construction quality, maintenance, and operational design.

👷 Contractor and Consultant Coordination

• Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and third-party consultants.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards and contract obligations.

📊 Team Leadership

• Oversee multidisciplinary teams, track progress, and support cross-departmental collaboration.
• Evaluate and guide the performance of staff involved in infrastructure planning and delivery.

📚 Regulatory and Technical Compliance

• Uphold compliance with FIDIC guidelines and international donor requirements.
• Track and resolve technical issues, scope changes, and design modifications in real-time.

Required Qualifications

🎓 Education

• Master’s degree in one of the following:
  • Civil Engineering
  • Transport Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Construction Management
• HEC-recognized universities are required; foreign degrees are advantageous.
• FIDIC training or certification will be a strong plus.

🧠 Professional Experience

• A minimum of 15 years in civil infrastructure, including 5+ years in senior management roles.
• Experience with large-scale public transport infrastructure is mandatory.
• Familiarity with donor-funded projects or international financing institutions is preferred.

• Strong understanding of FIDIC-based contracts
